Cleaners in the tank?

I recently acquired a 10g tank, rocks, and accessories from somebody on Craigslist. She obviously washed it with some sort of cleaner - smells kind of like Pinesol - and it smells really strong of it. Is there any way I can safely use this tank, or should I give up soaking it and use it as a gerbil cage?

Thanks for the help.

Really hot water, ammonia or bleech and a little luck. Ammonia could take out the smell. Bleech would kill anything that is left over. Just don't use them at the same time! Rinse it extremely well between either of them and do in a ventilated area. Vinegar might also work but again, DO NOT MIX THEM. I know you may know this but I would hate to hear you fainted and hit your head because I didn't say something about it.

After you are done, if the smell is till there than I would say that the only way to get it out would be to remove all the silicone inside the tank, not between the panes of glass and replace it.

If it is acrylic then the smell may never come out. It may be safe to use but I am not the one to say about cleaning acylic.
