Water conditions for Aquabid bettas?

For those of you who have bettas from Aquabid on here, what pH/hardness do you guys keep them in? Someone once told me that if I get a betta from Aquabid I have to keep him in RO/DI water and I'm wondering if there's any truth to that.

I have one and thats probably for stress purposes. I would assume thats the water they have them in and when you get him it'd be less stressful to have them in the same water. I didn't do that with my girl though and she's fine.

Interesting...I got my very first Aquabid betta a few months ago and he was fine until he got really bad fin rot that doesn't seem to be going away... I'm afraid I'm going to have to euthanize him soon ): So I started wondering if it was my water hardness/pH that caused it. I know bettas in Thailand are kept in super, super soft water. So now I'm at a crossroads... I love love LOVE the Thai bettas on Aquabid, but I'm looking into US dealers to see if I can find something comparable that's already used to US water. I just wanted to know what other people's experiences with Aquabid bettas were like.

I have a halfmoon who is prone to fin curling that sometimes leads to rot if the water is too hard. I tend to add a single bottle of spring water whenever I do a water change to soften up the water and it works. Not expensive and not that hard to do.
