In the wild they live in rice paddies which are huge they were originality domesticated to fight each other you need to get at least 2.5 gallon and keep around 80F degrees. putting some aquatic plants will make it feel like home buy the healthiest you can give it meaty foods.

Hello and welcome to the forum! :D I'm LTB, and I'll help you if asked. :)
Tip #1- Don't listen to pet store employees. This place here is the real deal ticket for proper Betta care. :)
Tip #2- Get the BIGGEST tank you can find. Your Betta could enjoy all the room and you might even be able to get tankmates! (Remember to QT! They might harbor sickness from the past tank!)
Tip #3- Get a heater. Bettas THRIVE in warmth. The best temperature for them is 78F-80F. They'd be more active and they would be less vulnerable to sickness.
Again, welcome to the forum and have a great life with your future Bettas. :P

Welcome!

Welcome to the world of bettas! They are by far my favorite type of fish to keep! :D A few things you should buy for your soon-to-be-fish would include:
-Tank (I suggest 5 gallons, it's a reasonable size, and I like it )
-Filter(Recomended)
-Heater(Water need to be around 78-80 farenheit)
-Fake, or live plants (for fake plants, get silk, plastic ones can rip fins. I have plastic ones, but they are VERY soft)
-Food (of course; people on here prefer pellets, as they are easier, to limit, and feed. New Life Spectrum, and Omega One, are both great brands!)
-A few other odds, and ends that I can't remember... )
