Hot Lights

I'm in the processing of cycling my 5 gallon tank (fishless -my Betta is currently staying in in his tiny 1 gallon motel). Now while I have the light on in the tank to help the plants each day, I notice the temperature does get up to around 84 degrees. It is a marineland 5 gallon hex tank with a 10w compact fluorescent, & the bulb seems to get awfully hot. I always thought compacts don't generate heat.

Hmm, that is pretty hot. Is the light attached to a hood or can you move it further away?
If you aren't planning on plants, I would try and find something lower wattage perhaps.
