funny male behaviour?

My male is being inticing. He built a big bubble nest. He hangs out under it. Sometimes he swims up to the female, doesn't bite, turns around and heads back to the next. Wiggles.

But when the female joins him under the nest, he turns agressive and chases her away very fast.

It is his first time.

Any advice?

Merci.

he is just trying to show how tough he is :) which is a good thing, as long as he isnt killing her they just need some time

Yeah, my male betta was doing the same thing. I was like I don't care how big and tough you think you are, just spawn with her dang it! XD Sadly I don't speak fish, so he didn't pay me any attention.

My fish did end up spawning later when he did this, but he ate the eggs.

As aggravating as it is, bettas are individuals and don't always do what we expect them to do. The best thing to do is try again in a couple of weeks.
