One starter culture can keep on going for forever if it is maintained, and will produce enough worms for all your fry.

How can I keep a culture going?

depends on which culture. for the micro and banana worms, you just sprinkle a little bit of yeast on top of the culture every few days, and redo the culture medium with oatmeal every two weeks or so. for vinegar eels you can give them a pinch of sugar every week or so
