Hi, I'm looking to set up a tank and get a betta. I'm thinking of getting a medium kritter keeper which comes out to about 2.5 gallons. I found this heater on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/25-Watt-Expl...ht_6891wt_1397 . It has an adjustable thermostat, but I was wondering if the wattage was too high. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
I have a 50 watt for my 5 gallon so for yours I would think 25 watt would be okay. Just be sure when you get it to check the temp of the water often to make sure its working as it should.
25 watts will be fine in a 2.5 gallon. I have two tanks that size and each has a 25 watt heater. A really great and highly recommended brand is the Elite Submersible Mini Heaters.
I think I've seen the elite's. It just worried me that they were pre-set. I live in Minnesota and when winter comes around I'm not sure how the temp is going to be since I'm in a new apartment. I'll look in to them. Thanks for the advice.
Thats what I have and Elite 50 watt adjustable heater, I got mine from Amazon, check and see they might have and adjustable one in 25 watt. Just got mine a few days ago and so far its doing a good job at keeping the temp at 76 where I have it set too.
The Elite 25 watt is adjustable. I'm not sure why they list it as a preset. There just aren't any numbers to go by. There is a - sign and a + sign, you adjust the dial to get the right temperature.
Mine has numbers, it shows them on front and there is a dial up top you turn to get to the temp you want, buts its the 50 watt so I guess the 25 watt is different . Great heaters though no matter what wattage.
