Betta Fish Help

Hi, I'm new to this whole betta stuff and I was just wondering if my Betta is healthy or not.
It's been a week since I first got him and I've notice some brown patches on the bottom of his mouth and the top of his head. Is this normal and thanks for taking the time to read my post :)

I currently have him in a 10gallon tank
Water is usually at 75F except in the morning when it drops to 70F

Sorry if the pictures aren't good enough, he just wouldn't stop moving Lol

I can't tell if the spots are "normal" or not..but, your tank temp is way too low. Do you have a heater?

+1

Also, that temperature fluctuation is no good. That can easily stress your fish.

The brown is normal. Yes, a heater is a must for cold tanks. A Hydor THEO heater is adjustable, heats, and no bad reviews from the members or any other person.

I suggest you try to get one that is adjustable & has a thermostat.
70 is WAYY too cold. 75 is a little on the cold side IMO, I don't reccomend keeping a betta tank less than 78.

Cooler temps make them more prone to illness & disease.

Cant really see the brown patches but my Betta is almost the same color blue with the darker colored head and he has some brown patches too and is in fine health, had him just over 3 months and no problems with his health. I think its just part of his color like mine.

You should really get a new heater one that is adjustable, I just had to do that myself as the preset one I had just wasnt heating the water enough. The adjustable ones are great and Amazon has some good buys on them I paid 18 dollars for my Elite Submersible 50 watt adjustable and I saw some even lower than that price but some people really like the Elite the most so that is what I brought.
