My Alien Wasteland!

So I just got a whole new setup - it's the 6.6 bookshelf aquarium from Petco. Not the most quality setup in the world - in assembling I broke a couple of plastic pieces on the hood - nothing a little superglue couldn't fix. But the aquarium itself is nice and thick, and seems pretty scratch resistant. But anyways, my theme for this tank is "alien wasteland" - you can see there is black gravel with various shades of blue mixed in, an alien skull, and some very strangely colored plants. I love it! I also have a new black and turquoise halfmoon male and zebra nerite snail, names are undetermined at this point. I'd love suggestions! I'm an American Dad fan, so I was thinking of "roger" for the betta - keeping up with the alien theme. But I'm a big sci fi (love Star Wars, Star Trek, Firefly, to name a few) so if you have suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

Anyways, I'm super excited about my new setup ^_^

What an awesome theme!! Roger would be a perfect name too :)
I would add more plants in case he wants to rest (HM's aren't very good swimmers I hear) but wow. What an interesting idea! Love the cave skull.

Yes, I was definitely thinking it was a little empty, but I need to find the perfect plants. Nice and soft, but weird looking. I have some green ones, but I don't want it looking "earthy" :P

Haha I know what you mean, finding theme plants can be hard since a lot of them are made to look natural. Good luck!

I made a video of his tank, since pictures of him, and his invertebrate buddies, are very hard to capture. Sorry it took me so long to focus on the whisker shrimp.

I think you should go with Wall-E for the betta, and Hal (the cockroach) for the snail! I know earth isn't exactly alien... but in that movie it was pretty strange & wasteland-ish! lol

If not, then definitely Mork & Mindy. (brownie points if you know what I'm talking about...)

But, if you don't know who those people are... Then go basic with Han & Chewie. :)

btw- Congratulations, the new betta looks gorgeous!

Thanks so much! I love the name suggestions - Mork and Mindy is adorable. If I named them that, my mom would be THRILLED. (She's a big Robin Williams fan)

OK, new names:
Betta - Roger. Mostly because this betta is particularly fabulous.
Snail - Jabba. He's fat, slimy, and eats all day.
Shrimp - Mork and Mindy, because it's too freaking cute!
