Is my tank cycled?!

Fishie is in a 5 gallon filtered tank. I didn't cycle it before I put him in, so I've had to do 50%-75% water changes every other day for a couple of weeks.
I test the water every night, and I haven't had to change it since Saturday night! Ammonia and nitrites have been at 0 since then. My test kit didn't come with nitrate testing tho, so I don't know if that's a positive number. :o/
Anyway, does that mean that my tank is cycled? I'll continue to check the params every day, but if ammonia and nitrites remain at 0, how often do I have to change the water and how much?

When ammonia and nitrites are at 0 youre tank is cycled! Nitrates can be at a high number and still be safe! I would say change 10% of your water or 25% every week and the nitrates will be at a perfectly safe number. Usually nitrates arent much of a threat if you change the water regularly :)

Awesome! I was expecting it to take a super long time. It's only been a few weeks. cool.

Oh yeah! It only takes about 2 weeks for freshwater. Salt water takes longer.... Like 4 weeks
