I have heard Betta Imbellis and Betta Smarginia are becoming more popular.

Well mine was supposed to be a male Dragon Scale Betta, but since we've determined that she's probably female, I have no idea what kind she is.

Yeah B.Splendens, B.Imellis, and B.Smarginia are the most popular in the hobby all Bettas in pet stores are hybrids of the 3 bred for hundreds of years to fight so a wild Betta is calmer.

I currently keep 11 species of wild bettas.

These include, Betta uberis, Betta burdigala, Betta brownorum, Betta persephone, Betta rutilans, Betta livida, Betta tussyae, Betta albimarginata, Betta unimaculata, Betta 'palangkarensis' and Betta ideii.

I am getting completely out of splendens and will now only be keeping one or two females as pets and have the rest of my fish room dedicated to wild bettas, apistogrammas, killifish and gouramis. Splendens are too much work and too sensitive for my tastes.
