True, bettas were bred for the entertainment of mankind :/ I've never seen the other bettas in person. In any store, or even online from some shippers/breeders. Only Splendens.

I have only found some bettas super high maintanence. My four are pretty hardy buggers :) Charlie needs to be moved to a high traffic area though.

Xtrembettas in Indonesia (he's on AB) sells lots of wild betta species. He is really great to deal with (there is a bit of a language barrier) and all of my fish are very healthy.

My unimaculata pair from him actually recently spawned and gave me 20 odd little unimaculata fry.

Nice!! :) idk I've found Canada a butt of a place to deal with, to order fish over seas or borders. I had a bad enough time from within Canada :( otherwise I'd dibs some wild types for sure.

I remembered as I was typing you are in Canada so transhipping might be different.

My wilds have to go from Jarkata to Bangkok, then they get shipped out to Australia. They have to then spend a week in quarantine right up in Queensland, after which they get shipped to me right down in Victoria.

I had a couple of DOAs at the transhipper's place in Bangkok the first time around, but fortunately the replacements all arrived alive and well during the next shipment.

I plan on keeping a few wild and different B.Splenden lines.
