First time owning a CT

So this is the first time I have a Crowntail. Do they swim diffrently than V-tails? If so why, if not then there's something wrong with mine. i think it;s one of it;s fins it's shorter than his left one. he also seems to be breating hard. Is this normal? I'm worried I just got him yesterday but I'm already attached I can't give up on him nor give him up!

Hi I have a CT too but he since I have never had a VT I am not sure but he swims very well with his crown tail wiggling behind him. As for the breathing hard he is just stressed I bet adjusting to his new home. Have you tried to feed him yet ?

Yes i did and he ate up like a beast so at leats i know he has appetite.

you have to keep in mind they're very different tail types. Veiltails, think like a sail on a boat (wind cannot go through the sail) and crowntail are like a holey sail.. So yes, they swim a bit differently because on one the water can pass through multiple points on the tail.

I can't tell you if your fish is swimming and breathing normal because I cannot see him swimming. Look at multiple videos on youtube and compare.
The fin difference is not normal, however. Is it fully formed and just smaller? Or is it broken or injury related? Again, we would need to see pictures to gauge if he's normal or not.
Did you put them in the 10g after?? Did you put the CT on the filter side? He might not be used to the current yet (Get it baffled asap). Bowser injured himself on the first day of having a low current filter (but he's better now)

Ok Will Baffle it. Um I'll see if I can actually take a picture. I think is because he's still small and has not grown yet but still. Let me see if I can provide a picture. I also noticed he likes it much darker than bright so i change the lighting to a light lamp on the back of the tank with the background keeping it semi dark and showdowie that has helped some. :)

Yes, without a lot of surface cover, some bettas will seem shy.
