what kind of snail?

just wondering what kind of snail would be good for my 10 gallon?cycle,filtered,and everything.already have a few fish in it including an oto,4 rosy red minnows.did have a betta in it but the rosy reds r fin nippers.

but i want a snail.tons of algae and my oto cant keep up.so i want to go with snails as well..i dont care of they breed a lot and fast.ill be happy with that.

i just read on pet store sites that the nerite,margarita,turbo,and nassarius snails are marine.though i know they need salt water to breed..

just not sure if they will work in my tank and what snails will actually breed in freshwater..

out of those nails including mystery snail...1 that is a good algae eater,will breed in freshwater?

Do you keep the tank tropical or cold water because I just listed tropical.

its tropical.but even without my heater in it,it stays tropical.rite now the inside of my apartment is 80 degrees F...so its warm in here.during the winter we dont even use a heater inside the apartment bcuz it doesnt get cold enough.

might want a heater to reduce temp changes remember never put assassin snails with any other snail because assassin snails are assassins.

i have a heater in it.its set at 78..it does get higher when the temp rises inside the apartment.but not by much.i surly wouldnt want to wake up to a dead snail.and i know they will stink badly also..i think ill go with the nerite.i like them and want to have them breed in my tank.

Nerites only breed in brackish or salt.

yes and ive got a place they can do that.i didnt want a snail that would over populate my tank..nerites are perfect.
