Hello im posting this in a different forum..my betta is tearing his fins! when i first got him he had plastic plants. i read those were bad, (i thought that was why he was tearing fins). so i replaced them with silk plants and they began growing back..today in the middle of the day i checked on him and his fins are shredded! he almost looks like a crowntail. What could be causing his??? also, hes a doubletail halfmoon.
It's ok:) If his fins are tear up, it will probably heal within a week. Good water is recommended, or add wild almond leaf. WAL will turn the water into a dark yellow color, which is good for healing bettas:)
Thanks guys!! i feel better now :) i just wish i knew what was doing it..every time they seem to be getting better he tears (or shreads this time) them again.. :/
i figured out it's your avatar that shows up on the posts. not the profile picture. oh! and question.. my betta tore one of his fins pretty bad.. and i read that they could heal??? how?
5.5 gallons filtered & heated. It doesnt seem to bother him that much. And would i just have to go without a filter. Thanks for the reply!
You can put pantyhose or a pre-filter on the intake. I wouldn't leave it open if he has obvious signs of fin damage because it'll continue & could get worse turning into something more serious IMO.
