have you moved your fish to the new 2.5 gallon? if so you can move the heater anytime. or you can move the heater first let it heat up the water in the 2.5 then move your fish over

ok just make sure your 1 gallon doesn't get too cold, maybe you can put a light over the tank until tomorrow?

Yes, I would definitely turn off the light at night. Bettas need time to sleep just like we do.

By the way, I have the 7.5 watt heater like that one. Please keep a close watch on it, it has shot my tank's temperature up a couple of times if it was left plugged in for too long. I, too, have a 2.5 gallon minibow. If you are prepared to closely monitor it, though, you should be fine.

I like to keep my tanks around 80 degrees. Much higher than that and I notice Drago hiding on the bottom of his tank, so 80 seems to be the sweet spot for him. At night, I unplug the little heater, and his tank sometimes gets down to 75, but no lower than that. I have a new one coming in the mail for him soon, and I am looking forward to taking the 7.5 watt out of his tank.
