curling fins?

Fishie's anal fin is curling at the bottom edge. I was wondering why this is. I've read that ammonia or pH could be the problem. But I've been testing his water almost daily, and the tank has been cycled now for over a week, but before that the highest the ammonia got was a little above .25. And my pH is 7, which is not considered hard water, right? So why could his fins be curling?

I was told it was the hardness of the water. It could be it too hard or too soft. Mine was too soft so Buddha's fins curled.

Ok. Is water hardness and pH the same thing?

no :)

Water hardness has to do with ... how hard your water is xD

Hard water is corrosive to metals, and soft water I think has more of a salt content (do NOT hold me to this xD)

PH is the acidity of the water. Or how basic it is.

I've read that it could also be genetic or a result of clamped fins due to stress. Got a pic?

o.O I don't think so...but I'm not sure

I have REALLY hard water in my house and we have a water softener which makes the water "safer" for our pipes. We've had to resort to PVC pips because the water was wearing the pipe away which led to leaks.

It's corrosive, ,from what I know, in a different manner than high Ph. High PH is more of an acid and is harmful to humans, but hard water isn;t.

Fun ffact: I just wiki'd it and it said hard water is water with a high mineral content.
