you wouldnt have to do that. :) just do partial water changes I'd recommend in amount like 1g or 2g so you will know how much salt to re add

1 or 2 gallons daily? That sounds much more manageable. Not that I wouldn't do it for my poor little fella, but that's definitely more convenient.

When the treatment is over I'd need to change it all out, though, right?

And how long should I treat him? I need to dissolve the salt in some aquarium water first, right?
Sorry to be so full of questions, I'm just so anxious to see him better.

Aquarium salt treatment should be limited to 10 days :)

Yupp. 100%. As to the temp change, what you do is scoop him up in a cup of his old, warm water, keep him in the warmest (safe) place in your house, then change the water. Use warm tap water, approximately the same temp as the old water, and add conditioner & salt. Turn the heater back on, float his cup in his tank, leave for an hour, then return him to the tank. For me, it's the least stressful way to water change.
