Lazy Betta

My betta is always at the top of his tank, I know they normally do stick to the top. I just have to ask do they not always move much? He always stays on top of the temp gauge, or on some betta leaves I've put together out of an old fake plant and a suction cup. He will move around when I feed him. Just not a whole lot. The Temp is at about 75-80.

Does he look like your profile pic? If so, he's clamped up and could be sick.

Does he have any off coloring on him?
Has he been exhibiting any other strange behaviours?

Also, how big is the tank, how often have you hd him, and how often does water get changed?

He is in the photo, what do you mean clamped?

The Coloring is not off that I know of he has always been a deep blue purple. There have been no real strange behaviors just lazy at times. When he was in his 2.5Gal he never moved but now he is in a 15Gal.

The Tank get cleaned once a week, I'm not sure what you mean by hd.

I did just change the light from a incontinent to an LED strip, but blocked some of the light so its not too bright.

In the photo, it looks like he is holding his dorsal fin and anal fin close to body, making it appear like they are clamped down. This can indicate a stressed or sick fish.

I think Alcemistnv was asking how long you have had him.

Besides lately (today and yesterday) when he swims his fins will be out and about unless I move something they they are close for a bit. When he sits on the temp gauge they don't move at all. I've had him for about 9 months now.

Could it be the other fish in with him?
I have 5 Neons but they rarely go to the top half, only when eating.
and I have 4 Ghost Shrimp.

This is my tank, would it not be a good set up for a betta?

Hmmm the set up looks fine.

How often have you been doing water changes recently?
And do you know the water parameters?

He's either sick or stressed froms omething and I'm thinking of what...

About 3 days ago the rock got moved to the middle. The fake plant to the left was put in and taken out a few times(Was unsure of the look). Also the fake leafs on the right side on the top where all moved together. The light was changed to the LED strip.

As I'm writing this I'm realizing this is a lot of change at once.

But before that he still never moved much.

The set up is fine but its overcrowding, Check the ammonia rating if possible.

Too much waste may make him/her uncomfortable.
