Stories like that, of being selfless when things are looking their worst for you, reminds me of a lovely 12 year old girl from my city who I read about in the paper, named Hope. She was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer and was given little chance of survival. She was given a chance to have a wish be granted by the Charlotte Make-a-Wish Foundation, and despite being very sick and having the opportunity to have anything she wanted, she made the most selfless wish a child in her position could make. She wanted to help other kids like her, have their wishes granted.
She had heard of many wishes from other children in the city who had cancer and such not being granted due to lack of funds. She used her one wish, not for herself, but for those children. Her wish was to see their wishes come true. Through her curagious and selfless act, a foundation was set up called Hope's Wish and through its fundraising efforts, those children all had their wishes granted.
Sadly, she lost her battle with her own cancer, but died knowing her wish was granted. Now her legacy goes on in the foundation, and the hearts and minds of the families of the many children whose wishes were granted because of her. She is a true inspiration. A breath of fresh air in this time of greed, selfishness, and petty materialism. She truly was a very special and beautiful girl.

I love love love stories such as this one because it re-enforces my belief there truly are good people in the world, they dont have to have alot but i love how they dont make excuses like "no time" "it doesnt effect me personally" and the like.
