New Tank, New Behaviour

Hey Guys!

Just about an hour ago I moved my betta from a half gallon to a five gallon, and he is going nuts! He just swims around like his tail's on fire in circles around the tank, stopping at points to wiggle back and forth. The temperature I don't think has changed a whole lot, but I do have some water and gravel from an established tank in there. I acclimated him before putting him in. I have a filter, but I built a baffle, so the current doesn't look so bad. I fed him a bit and he seems to still be a pig.

My concern is:

Is he okay? What is going on and should I be worried?

Please answer!

It sounds like he thinks it's the best day of his life.

(caveat: I am new to Bettas, so wait for someone more experienced to confirm.)

Give it a couple days to adjust to the new environment. He's probably fine.

He is most likely adjusting to his new space. That's like you going from something the size of a bathroom to a mansion. also some betttas do not like big, empty, spaces. The keyword being empty. Do you have some plants and stuff for hiding and exploring?

My new betta did the same thing when he went from his store cup to his 10 gallon tank. By the second day he started to calm down. 3rd day onward, he normalized...patrolling the tank regularly but not swimming like he's trying to escape a shark attack.

LOL yeah. He's loving all that space. Shiny got all excited when I moved him to his tank from his store cup. He zoomed from the bottom to the top a bunch of times.

He just needs time...being territorial fish, when they get a larger territory they spaz out at first lol...He acting like there are other fish to contend with. When he realizes that there isn't a threat he will calm down.
