Fighting current?

Hey. Today I upgraded my fishes tank to.. I don't know, a massive-ish one. Previously he had a smaller one of course, but no filter as it was to strong, so I just removed it. Now that I have this way bigger tank, I put the filter back in and positioned the out pipe (Pipe full of holes in this case) right behind the heater to try and get the temp all around the same. He keeps trying to get closer to the heater (Previously he would hang around it quite a lot) but never gets to it because he cant beat the current.

There's tons of room, so I don't understand why he has to be right next to it. I upped the temperature to just below 80F and it's just started to rise. Before it was in the good zone but could have been warmer so I'll try this. But will this constant current fight be bad for him? I don't want to remove the filter because it helps keep the whole tank warm. I'll add pic below =)

(Everything looks so orange for some reason...)

Thanks

Wow! You could probably make a baffle? I'm not sure if the current is too strong though.. Here's a baffle how to: http://www.bettafish.com/showthread.php?t=30139

Or I've seen people put a big piece of aquarium sponge right where the water flows out.
Considering how strong the current is, you might want to put pantyhose around the intake, or put aquarium sponge/foam in it so it doesn't try to suck him up.

Nice tank btw!

Thanks.
I actually just ended up rubber-banding a spare filter sponge to the intake vents =)

Current is probably still a little strong but hopefully he'll give up -.-

Thanks =)
