Hi guys!
I just moved into college, and brought a tank for my betta with me. I figured I'd set it up in the first two weeks so that it would be ready so that I can move my fishie in when I bring him from home over labor day weekend. I filled my tank with water so that I could monitor the temperature changes in the room (because we all know how extremely good the heat and a/c are in dorm rooms, right?) and determine whether or not I needed a bigger tank with a heater.
The first week or so was fine (it's a 2-gallon), temperature changes and water levels were normal, but when I went to check the temperature again, there was a weird white film on top of the water. I've heard of it being a problem before in tanks that have fish. Most people say that it's protein deposits, organic deposits, etc... but my tank DOESNT have any fish in it yet!
Does anybody know what this could be? And would it be safe to move my betta into it?
