Normal sleeping behavior?

At night when my betta goes to sleep, he sleeps at the bottom of the tank, either in his cave or just on the gravel. He also takes little naps during the day. Is this all normal?

Sounds completely normal to me. Mine generally sleep on the floor or in the leaves of the java fern. This isn't a problem in shallow tanks. In deep tanks, they have to make a mad dash for the surface when they need to breathe.

lol well my 5 gallon tank is about nine inches deep with water with the gravel in, so that's probably not too deep.

Thanks again, koimaiden :)

Mine did that all the time. I ahv'nt seen any in my ten do it, but then again I cant watch them not beg because I soon as the door opens they rush to the front. I saw Bubbles do it once though,

You could take out the metal part. I did and Lebron uses it when he's resting. Parameters are fine with me, you could always make one.

Agreed. I had one in for my rosetail with some major finnage. It rusted. I'm going to make a betta hammock from craft mesh and coat it with either java moss or riccia. Make them a nice cushy bed of leaves to lay in.
