I was just wondering what the best way to go in treating water is. Most people would obviously say using a dechlorinator, but I have always let the water sit for 48 hours. Or is it a good idea to dechlor in measured amounts (e.g. 1 gallon jugs) so i dont kill my fish like the first time i dechlor'd.
Use a conditioner. Letting the water sit doesn't take out the chloramines or the hard metals. Conditioner is the way to go. You could use a bucket or jugs. Just make sure the water is dechlorinated before you put it in. ;)
I fill a couple of empty water jugs from the tap, add my water treatment and let them sit to room temp...my water is pretty warm out of the faucet this time of year, so most times, if I'm in a hurry I can change the water right away and it will be around 80 degrees. The water conditioner I use is Betta Safe, and it works in a few seconds.
