Hello! My name is Roxie, and I've never had a betta before last week. Found this site after trying to figure out what was wrong with my Tudor, and it was such a big help I'll probably stick around for a while.
I'm a 20-something college student who originally majored in Environmental science with a concentration in water quality (but then I gave up and went into web design because I'm terrible at math), so a fish is a natural fit for me!
Tudor is a crowntail I walked out with at Petco the other week without realizing that bettas cost more than my dog at times. He enjoys the finer things in life like swimming and plastic castles.
I will admit, I'm probably prone to overreacting to anything my betta does that isn't normal, mostly because my only experience with bettas before today was taking care of my older sister's back in high school during its last 3 days... when it suddenly exploded...
Wish I'd had this site back then. I'll probably be mostly found in the emergencies forum because of this, with threads like "MY FISH JUST LOOKED AT ME, HE'S DYING ISN'T HE???" because I'm now convinced that the Betta Life cycle goes something like "Get born, swim, eat, explode".
Nice to meet everyone!
