I've lurked for the last couple of months until joining to ask a question yesterday :)
Our story starts with my son (6) playing (essentially) beer pong at the state fair and getting 3 fish that died the next day. I had purchased a 3 gal tank for them already so after some basic research, the doomed goldfish were replaced with the betta. She was mislabeled at Wal-mart as a male and we didn't find out for a couple of weeks. By then, I liked her and was having fun with her so we got a new tank and set another tank up in my son's room so he could have a "boy room". Upgraded my tank to a 10gal and added an ADF and loach to it (found out last night that was a bad rec from Petco) about a month ago.
I went from no fish to seemingly tanks everywhere in a couple of months! Its been fun though and these bettas are definitely unique and easy to get attached to
