It sounds like a simple case of bloating......but could you fill this out and attach a picture if possible please? Just to help us so we can help you treat him accordingly. :)

Picture attached

He is in a 2 gallon tank
79 degrees
tank has a filter
no other aeration
not heated
fish lives alone
eats Aquoen pellets
feed him twice a day
water changes once a week 100%
API betta conditioner is what I add to the tank
have not tested the water
his appearance is normal minus the bloating
his behavior is not normal now
symptoms appeared this morning
has never been sick before
If I had to guess age I would say 1 year

o.o Oh goodness....thats a picture of him? How many pellets do you feed him during a meal? That looks like such a severe case to just pop up over night....he wasn't at all big before?

No he wasnt. I feed him maybe 4 pellets twice a day. Does anyone know how I can treat this? He looks miserable and I don't know what to do for him.

I don't even know how thats possible....there must be something going on with him internally to just blow up like a little balloon overnight like that.
This looks pretty severe......I'd suggest making a thread in the Diseases and Emergencies section so the experts might sport it better, or perhaps PMing OFL or Sakura8. This is a little out of my range of knowledge....

I bet the overfeeding (he only needs 2-3 pellets a day) caused constipation, and then he ate something like a plant from his tank... or it could be fluid uildup. Don't say you have no idea, people :P But yeah post in the diseases and emergencies and link us there so we can watch it.

Well....I don't have any idea. Originally it just sounded like a simple case of a little bloat, but the poor guy looks pretty bad in that picture. Anything I could think of, including what you suggested, which did occur to me, seemed like something that would have to have taken time and some other signs beforehand to build up to that point correct?

That is true.....which is why I suggested posting something in Diseases and Emergencies, or maybe PMing one of the more experienced keepers...
It does look like a fluid buildup though the more I stare at the picture, doesn't it? I wonder how quickly that can build up, I've never personally dealt with that before...
