So I went to my LPs today, and despite the many sick bettas they have, I actually love this place. It's semi family owned and they love every fish they have there. I remember the owner going to am employee "the goldfish aren't acting the same. Can you do a full water change for them? Thank you."
Now, the bettas do look sick, but the thing is that it's a small shop. There's no way they can buy large tanks for ALL f them. They have about 20 or so in the back. But they also sell LOTS of other fish (all are healthy), reptiles, birds, and rodents. I've always seen them caring for the animals, so I harbor no bad feelings towards them.
So I mentioned to the owner that I got my first betta there, and she went "really?" So I showed her the pic of Buddha and she said "Wow, he's so big and pretty." And I told her it's been 7 months now and she said that most costumers come back and say they've had a betta from there for on average 2 years.
The bettas were clamped, but were all 100% responsive. Even thought they may have looked sicked, after closer inspection, I noticed that besides the clamping, there seemed to be no problem. There was no blue or yellow water, there was no excess food, and there wasn't loads of poop on the bottom.
I generally like this place :)
