Accidentally got betta water in mouth

My betta bowl sits on a shelf and I accidentally bumped it and it fell and the fish is fine but I got the water in my mouth. Will I get sick? What should I do?

Glad to know this because a vacuum is just not in my budget so using a turkey baster for visible debris & was working up the courage to siphon...lol..I feel a bit foolish

How long do you guys suck on the siphon lol? I just do it for half a second then put it down in the bucket. I have not had any aquarium water in my mouth from it.

No, your fine. Besides maybe some ammonia if it isn't cycled, wuch shouldn't be enough to do damage because fish shouldn't have very much ammonia to begin with... Might have tasted bad, but it is fine.

if this were the marvel universe you'd now begin mutating and have all the powers of a betta fish.

If one could get sick I'd be dead by now.. lol. There may be a slim chance you may get something.. but i do more water changes then mose, have for years and have yet to get anything from the fish.

Not a pleasant thought though ..

Heh, fish can get herpes virus. IDK if its transmittable to humans but you might not be affected but be able to pass it on to other fish.

Human herpesvirus 6 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Guys buy a siphon.
