Any thoughts on a name for this little guy?

My husband and I got this little guy at Petsmart today. They adopted him out to us because he has a lump on his gill, and aren't allowed to treat him with anything but betta max. (If you have any idea what the lump is...please let me know. He's in a disposable half gal aquarium in case its fish TB...would love to move him into a better home.)

Anyway, he seems to be thriving now that he's in a larger space. His fins look terrible, and he's got the lump, but he's actively swimming and gobbling down food.

What should we name him (assuming he lives)?

His coloring looks like it's going to be beautiful if he makes it through! Could the lump be some kind of tumorous thing?

You mean they gave him to you for free? cool!

They do that at Petsmart with animals they can't really sell because of health or temperament. My friend got her rat that way. The rat was skitish and a bitter so the girl gave it to her for free because she said they couldn't just sell her and my friend is very knowledgeable with rats. I assume they do the same with their other animals as well. It's called their adoption plan.

This petsmart has been wonderful to me and my husband. They take good care of the bettas and when they can't care for one properly...what's another betta to the crazy betta lady?

I think it is a tumor. I was concerned about fish tb to start with, but he seems to be responding well to treatment. If he's still fine in a couple days I'll move him to a larger tank.

I love Vincent! It's perfect for him.

Vincent's tumor has been tentatively identified as Lymphocystus. He should get better all on his own if that's the case. Just gotta keep him clean and comfortable
