What do i do???

My beta Pharoah used to have huge beautiful fins.
About a month ago i noticed they were getting really torn.
I started to really watch him to see what was going on, and i noticed he likes to sleep by the intake of the filter and his fins were going inside it.
So, i cut a pair of tights and put it over the intake.
His fins started heeling a little.
But now, they seem to be getting worse again and i can't figure out why!
I'm afraid its fin bitting but i've never seen him do it.

I've never experienced a tail-biter, but it looks to me like torn fins... is there anything else in his tank (plastic plants, decor..) that could be tearing his fins, too? If so take those out and see if his fins begin to look better. Good luck! He's a cute fish :)

Im new to fin biting myself... if his tail looks torn but otherwise healthy, most likely its fin biting...
the recommended relief from that is to provide him with a stimulating nin stressful environment
