Well I have an extra tank that I use to mix my new water and let it adjust to room temperature. I would not put tap water into the tank then add de-chlorinator its pretty much too late at that point. You can stir with your hand if you have not washed it with soap.

I used to put my siphon in the 5 gallon bucket I used for water changes.

I usually drop my siphon onto a clean paper towel or into the bucket I use for changes; if you're concerned about the cleaning products on the floor, maybe put down a clean towel?

I'm not very thorough with my WC's in regards to cleanliness... I wanna finish it as quickly but still finish it efficiently. I just drop the siphon on the floor

I always set out about 3 towels, to avoid any mess. lol But I always make a mess no matter how much effort I put into being neat.

I have a fish towel too! Its a towel that I washed by itself in hot water with no soap lol :)
