Fish not moving?

My fish, who is usually very active and outgoing, is being really weird today. I'm concerned. is something wrong? he kind of reminds me of my past betta right before he died... help!

with 3 fish in a 5 gallon and only 75% water change a month I am surprised he is not dead. Ammonia build up must be terrible.

If you're only doing WC every 3 weeks, that could be the reason. I don't know what kind of filter you have on your tank, but unless it's really well established, feeling flakes will create a ton of ammonia if the cory cats don't clean up the mess before they start to decay.

BTW...
  • What do you feed the cory cats?
  • Do your cory cats have whiskers/barbels?
  • How much do you feed your betta?
  • Do you feed the cories at the same time?
You may want to invest in a water test kit or bring a sample of your water to the pet store to have them check it for you.

Took a sample to the pet store and they said the water is fine. Suggested I add kosher salt, so I added a tablespoon. Nothing changed. I'm stumped.

My fish is doing something very similar, darting like. However than my fish ends with resting at the top of the water, than will randomly dart around again. I hope this gets figured out! I dont want to lose our fishies!

Hey meaghan how is your fish? Did he get better? Mine got worse. The only sign he is showing that he is still alive is his gills are moving. Otherwise, nada. He just floating on his side, totally lifeless. His fins look like they are rotting. When he does swim it's on his belly. It's not a pretty sight. I think I'm going to lose him :(

:( my fish is doing ok. She's a bit wonky still and stays near the surface 90% of the time. Are you treating him with anything?
