Okay so I wasn't sure on where to post this, but I felt the breeders would best be able to assist me with this. If I am in the wrong place let me know :)

So I got a baby betta about a month ago, and I am having the hardest time sexing them. So Koshiro has a tiny egg spot looking thing, what looks like a tiny full beard, and vertical stripes now, and short fins. He/She is also VERY aggressive. They will jump completely out of the water to get at my fingers when I am feeding them.

I put him/her into a split tank (10 three ways) in between Draco and Rorschach, that is when the vertical bars showed up. So I am defiantly thinking my Koshiro is a Hotirubi. I would post pictures, but my phone sucks for pictures, you can bearly even tell they are there. I will try to post some this weekend when I get my new camera. But I wanted to check to see if anyone has any opinions. Thanks

Babies are tough. Young males do have an egg spot and can develop vertical breeding bars (I've seen it personally). Pictures will be the best option here. Although aggression is generally a male thing females can be just as aggressive. Yes girls can live together in a sorority but not all girls get along with others.

That's what I thought, *sigh* maybe I should just name him Dr Frank (Rocky Horror Picture show) that should cover my bases lol. Do you think that I should separate them?

I would wait until we see a picture. There are a lot of people on her who know what their talking about when it comes to male and females differences.

True,my males have an egg spot too.The vertical bars can occur in males too but only in juveniles.
The bars are used for camouflaging in the wild.
