good to know..ima get me some test strips so I can keep a better eye on his levels so I know what his schedule needs to be

Great! Liquid kits are reccomended because test strips are not quite accurate :/
A good kit would be the API master liquid test kit. I got mine at Walmart.com but you can also get it really cheap on amazon ;-D

I have just been using the strips due to price. Spending a few hundred on heaters, tanks with filters and the fish has put a dent in my budget. I have an ammonia moniter in the tank and test the water several times a day. I think my next pay check will go to the liquid test kits. I love my fishies and they will keep me company while I have my back surgery and am so far away from home.

Here's a better picture of my second guy. I just couldn't pass him up after going home to contemplate buying him. He /loves/ that mermaid-barrel-cave. He's constantly in it, resting on it, doing whatever. It holds down the heater in his tank too so that could be a possibility on why he loves it so much. Still working on his tank, the plant I bought was too tall for it so it went into Eko's who has smaller decorations. He does have a moss ball in there named Tigger.
