No Bubble Nest Yet

I'm getting kind of worried about Aquarius, I have had him almost two weeks now and still no bubble nests. At first I thought it was the filter so I shut the filter off for a good three hours every day to give him a chance but he never builds one. Then I started thinking maybe he is too young and just not old enough to think about breeding thus has no reason to make one, but now I wonder if he's just in a small tank and unhappy with it. It's a five gallon tank with a heater set to 78 and a low powered filter that hardly rippled the surface. Why isn't he building any nests? Is it because I have to do two water changes a week because the tank is being cycled and he's stressed out?I have never had a betta who didn't start building bubble nests a week after I got him.

Either strong current not all bettas bubble nest it has nothing to do with happiness and no health issue.

None of the males I have right now have made a bubble nest recently, and they are in fantastic tanks with all of their needs met :) You don't need to worry about it at all if you're not planning to breed him. He could go his whole life without making a bubble nest and be perfectly content.

Okay good and no I never plan to breed him he's from petco so he doesn't have great genetics. I was just concerned because there isn't much to do in his tank as far as exploring and enrichment, building nests is the one thing they can do to pass the time and also it's just encouraging their natural instincts. Since I don't intend to breed him I won't worry though. I'll just find other things for him to do.

Some of mine make them, and some don't! It's no cause for worry.
