I've been doing it a while and aside the occasional knick it's been fine, trick is a new razor.

I once cut the tip off of my ankle while shaving. Bled like crazy for 5 minutes. Thankfully I was in the shower the whole time and it all went down the drain. I was using a fresh razor blade too. Now I am more careful.
