How to remove lime?

So I'm not sure if this is the right category to place this thread under. Let me know if it isn't but I was wondering if anyone know of a safe way to remove lime from my tank.

Lime? Why is lime in your tank?

If you're talking about the little white crust that forms just above the water line, that's just hard water mineral buildup. Vinegar will remove it, but it's best to remove all the water and the fish from your tank before you do that. Vinegar will turn the water acidic, and a rapid change can be fatal for a fish.
