My new Wilds!

I've been wanting a pair of wild bettas for a while now and I finally bought a pair! They are a pair of wild caught Guitar Smaragdina. They should arrive in a couple weeks

Very exotic looking, do they need anything different than regular bettas? Any special needs when breeding?

Nice looking wilds! I was thinking of getting a pair of smaragdina but just didn't have the room at the time and I don't focus on that complex.

Once you go wild you never go back. Seriously I love wild bettas. They are awesome and so underrated in the hobby.

@ registereduser- From the research I've done it seems they're fairly easy to care for. They like softer water and a degree or two cooler temps. Wilds tend to be shy so lots of hiding places is a must, other then that not much to it.

Also, make sure you have absolutely no gaps anywhere for them to jump out. No matter how small a gap is they will find a way through it eventually. I have lost at least a dozen wilds through jumping even when using lids and clingwrap. They are very determined.

Nothing sucks more than finding your prized fish as a crispy on the carpet.

Yep, jumpers for sure. Someone who was unpacking fish in Texas for the SCUBA show was saying how they could hear the wilds jumping inside their boxes! I plan on doing a shallow water tank but I'm still going to tape up any gaps.
