question about tail-biting recovery

my fiance's betta Sam had a bout of tail biting recently, he's started to recover now (his tail isn't much regrown in length, but the membrane is more whole now where it was tattered) and i had a question: he's a green-white butterfly SDeT, and i wanna know whether the regrowth will turn white like it was, or if it'll turn green because it's growning further out from the green base? part that's regrown has a green stripe in it that wasn't there before, so i was curious what color the rest would grow back as.

well genetically he's green/lighter green marbled body with green/white butterfly fins, and he's being fed a variety of foods: aqueon pellets, HBH betta flakes and freeze dried blood worms, and we've isolated the sources of his stress: moved him from a divided tank to a tank of his own and balanced his light/dark cycle better.

I say white since that is the fin. A Betta can be covered in different colors on fins and body.
