i always wanted an Oscar. How big of a tank and group would you reccomend. Not to sound rude but all the people devoted to Oscars do not keep them in groups. There predatory nature is what puts me off. Not that I am going to get one. Scary thought female Bettas are sometimes feeders.
the LPS had a group of three in a what was at least 300-500 gallons and they looked cramped in even that. i've heard general guidelines being groups of 2-5, with at least ten gallons per fish as babies, and for adults, they really need pond-level dimensions to move around as much as they like to. also, they are incredibly strong, and can speed up enough to slam into aquarium walls and crack anything less than inch thick glass.
Really? Every good Oscar keeper on monster fish has success the other way.
