strange...healthy new betta is always breathing heavily...

Anyone know what might cause heavy breathing in a healthy looking betta? Im sure he has some ammonia poisoning from his pet store cup. Activity seems normal, he likes to rest on the bottom but he has a big tail he carries around so I imagine its normal after swimming around for a bit that he would want to rest. Hes in a divided tank with heater, filter and water changes and the other fella seems fine. Could he just be healing from ammonia poisoning from his cup or should I keep an eye open for something more serious?

Yes this is perfectly normal for a new fish in a new tank. They are exploring their new environment and excited about having more space to move around and swim in.
