Pictures of the entire betta collection

About a year ago, I told my husband that I missed breeding bettas, and that I'd like to get a breeding pair to try my hand once again. My ever loving husband went to the petstore while I was at work that day and brought home 11 females and 9 males. This is a lot, but when you take into account that EVERY time we go to the petstore he sneaks another betta into the cart, and I'm a sap for the rescue stories my pet store sells me on...

we have a lot of bettas.

Today I'm making a file on all the bettas in order to better keep track of what's going on with them, and wanted a picture for each one. I thought I'd share the pictures as I get them. Here's the one I took last night:

Marble

He is a very unique VT, what a pretty boy. I also contribute to my girlfriends addiction lol.

Sorry about how grainy Marble's photo is, he's camera shy and didn't want to have his photo taken with the camera...but snapping it with the ipad was fine. He doesn't like bloodworms at all, but loves his hornwort plant and pellets. Crazy fish.


Lucky

No, he doesn't have fin rot. He got his fins stuffed down his throat by another betta. :( He is a remarkably lucky fish to have survived though, and he's doing well with aquarium salts and lots of TLC.

Prince Charming

By far my favorite betta. When the guppy rescues move out he'll be in his own 10 gal planted. Nothings too enormous for my boy. If I thought he'd get along with the guppies in there now he'd be with them, but I read something about betta's confusing guppies for other bettas? Not sure on that one.

Anyway, he's my love, and is the father of my first spawn since moving to WA.

The Littlest Betta

He's not so little anymore, but he used to be! He likes making burrows in the stones and hiding in them. The size of his tunnels are epic. It occasionally looks as if there is no betta in the tank because he's completely underground. Weird eh?

Edited to add: The funky coloring where body meets tail is actually normal for him. I had a mild panic attack this week thinking it was the mystery disease striking again, but no...that's just how he looks. Aquarium salts, constant water changes, and constant worrying doesn't change the color a bit. Just leads to bigger bubblenests. :P

Right now we've got 12 female bettas and 14 males. We have a dedicated fish room in our house, which has its own heater. They're not spoiled or anything.

That must be it! I shall treasure him always, and deepen his gravel so he can dig yet more tunnels. :P
