Shrimp are pretty darn easy to keep, try a feeder block or heck, even some dried leaves from a beech or hickory tree. Least then the fish won't eat them out of the tank.

beech or hickory tree? i dont think those are native to my area haha...

we have some emperor tetras at work, think those would work?

I keep one tetra and 2 guppies with my male bettas. Luckly, they aren't fin nippers and they are fast enough to get away from the bettas and otherwise, get along fine. I say as long as they get along with your betta go for it.
