IAL turning water yellow

Hi everyone,

So I bought some IAL's from Mo and I have put 1 in my betta's tank.

He seems to like the leaf, resting on it and hiding around it, but it keeps turning the water yellow!

I have been changing the water but it seems like the day after I clean the tank, the water is already a turning yellow.

Is this just because it is a new leaf? Is my tank too small (2gallons)? The filter has been running constantly.

Thanks for your help!

IALs are supposed to turn the water yellow. Those are the tannins the leaf is releasing. You doing water changes is basically negating the purpose of using the leaf.

It is normal for it to turn the water a yellow/brown color. It is not bad for the fish at all, it just isnt the prettiest to look at for some.

Ok thank you all! I am relieved to hear this. And Freyja, I didn't change because the water was yellow, it was just my weekly change. :P
