I tortured my boys today with a thorough tank cleaning since I don't have a gravel vac. Once a month I do a deep cleaning and scrub the gravel in some hot water. I don't cycle my tanks so I'm not worried about any cycle, but when the water comes out dark brown, I'm pretty sure that means my boys are filthy.
The problem is that Ratchet likes the filth. He acts so much more relaxed and sassy after he's been filthing up the tank for the better part of the week. He's more prone to biting during and after a change, which sucks because he still needs to clean tank to be healthy and all.
Mirage is chill and doesn't seem to care. He just gets sleepy after the change because sitting in a cup is so terribly taxing.
Starscream has a complete meltdown everytime. It doesn't matter if I slowly take the water out with a hose or not. If water is being changed, he's going to lose him mind and panic for the rest of the week.
Rodimus is taking it fairly well since this is his first time through the deep clean. I let the 10 gallon go longer since there's more space to the filth to disperse.
I'm hoping they like the rearranging that I did for them, though Ratchet still isn't allowed to have the mossball back since he's been trying to murder it.
