Water changes for healing a tail biter

The time for your betta's tail to grow back would take 3 months or more. For water change, as long as your betta stays healthy I would do once every 2-3 days by adding a small pinch of salt for every 1 gallon. I recommend feeding it real proteins such as live or frozen blood worms. If you have indian almond leaves or dried oak leaves, they would be a plus because they have chemical tannins that supresses bad bacteria and fungus.

I will pick some oak leaves up in my backyard. Ugh, he is the worst tail biter I have had. -.-

If you're going to resort to using AQ salt, many keepers, including OldFishLady, recommend using a "therapeutic dose'" usually 1tsp/gal. Less is not effective and can lead to resistance to it as a cure..
