Hi! I'm relatively new to this forum and really to the aquarium hobby in general (only 2 months!) I bought and fishless-cycled a 3 gallon fish tank for my 1 inch betta and now she's living there happily!
My water parameters have been great, zeroes for both ammonia and nitrite but my nitrates are very low, too. It's probably just above zero, because it's a slightly darker yellow than the 0 on the API test kit. I have two plants in there-- a Java Fern and Anubias-- and plan to add more but I'm wondering if low nitrates are ok? I feed her one pellet a day, as she seems too small to eat more. If I feed her more, she looks too bloated, although if it's up to her, she'd just eat and eat and eat.
Is my bioload too small? Or should I leave things as is? I haven't done any water changes since I put her in there a week ago, except to add a small amount of water to make up for evaporated water.
Thanks for the help!
