Gill cover issue

Im kinda new to the whole fish scene, rescued this betta from a friend that had him in a community tank with aggressive fish that pretty much ate all his fins. He was also all floaty from his gas bladder/ overfeeding. Anyway noticed the other day his gill cover looked damaged or hes got something else going on. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks




Housing

What temperature is your tank? 78
Does your tank have a filter? yes
Does your tank have an air stone or other type of aeration? no
Is your tank heated? yes
What tank mates does your betta fish live with? none

Food
What type of food do you feed your betta fish? pellets
How often do you feed your betta fish? once a day

Maintenance
How often do you perform a water change? 3 week
What percentage of the water do you change when you perform a water change? 25%
What type of additives do you add to the water when you perform a water change? stress coat + aquarium salt

Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed? something going on with the gill cover
How has your betta fish's behavior changed? lazy
When did you start noticing the symptoms? today

Does your fish have any history of being ill? gas bladder

oh my god.
Hopefully clean water helps that regenerate. Can he eat and breathe at the surface okay??

Yeah he seems to be able breath, eat, and swim ok. Its just that gill cover is discolored and I cant tell if its some kind of fungus or an abrasion.

Aq salt for 10 days max and see how it improves.
